Help me with my dad's dream trip?

My dad is turning 79 this August, and he’s been sick a lot recently. It’s always been his dream to visit Italy, Montalbano in particular, it’s near Palermo in Sicily I do believe, but because that’s where his father grew up. I really would prefer a cruise, it just makes things a whole lot easier for him, he isn’t one of those super fit almost eighty year olds. I’m currently searching but to no avail. The itinerary doesn’t make a huge difference, as long as a lot of the destinations are in Italy, and it’s possible to take a trip to easily on one of the days. If there’s no luck with any cruises, guided tours would also work. The only specifications besides accessibility to Montalbano is that it needs to be from late May to August preferably, and if not 2010, 2011, or even 2012. Please help me grant my dad his dream. I know it would mean a ton to him. Thanks in advance, and I’ll keep looking.

First time cruise advice?

Me and my husband want to take a cruise sometime between december and february to the eastern caribbean. We really want to see Jamaica, so we’re picking one that has that itinerary. When is a good time to go? We will probably pick a 4-5 day cruise. How long do you usually spend in ports of call? We are probably choosing a Carnival cruise, are they good? What all is included? are drinks expensive? How much cash should we bring? We don’t have credit cards, only visa check cards, will that be a problem? How about phone calls? I will have to call my parents to check on my son regularly.
