Any suggestions for planning a cruise for my parents?

I want to plan a cruise for my parents who are both around 40. I want them to go somewhere warm, probably the Caribbean, but other than that I have no idea what to do. I know I will need airfare, but what things are actually included in the cruise price? I don’t want to send them on a vacation where they have to spend a lot. Basically I have no idea how to plan this. Should I go to a travel agency? I don’t want to mess this up and send them somewhere terrible. Any ideas?

I’m a AAA member so would I save going through their travel agency, or booking things separately myself, or booking the airfare at one place and the cruise at another? I will need airfare from Pittsburgh PA to Miami FL, as well as transportation from the airport to the port. At this time I’m looking at leaving the morning of the cruise not the night before that way I won’t have to worry about hotel expenses. The cruise line is Royal Caribbean. Any advice for me??

My husband my son and I have never had a family vacation, so I want to plan for us all to go on a cruise next year when I get vacation time at work.I just have soooo many questions! Is it easy to plan a cruise, or should I get a travel agent? I wanted to save the cost, is a travel agency really necessary? We want to go to the Bahamas. Do they let you off the ship to tour the islands or do you have to stay on the ship the whole time? Do we need passports? (We live in the U.S). Are cruises a good vacation if you have a teenager, or will my 13 year old be bored to death? What’s a good cruise line? What happens if the ship sinks, do they have lifeboats? Do you have to dress up or can you wear whatever you want? If you’ve been on a cruise before please tell me if you thought it was worth it, how much it costs, and would you do it again?
wow tinkertoy, thank you! I have printed everything you wrote, and will refer to it often, thank you for all the information! You’ll get best answer as soon as I can do it.

Free Bahama Getaway vacation…ligit or scam?

Bahama Cruise | Posted by admin

I was in Madeira Beach, FL this past week and filled out a little slip to enter my name for a free Bahama Cruise/hotel stay for two. I got a phone call from a girl in the restaurant stating I had won. So she gave me the number to the travel agency called "Bahama Getaways", which is located in St. Petersburg, and I talked to one of the receptionists there and questioned her about the whole thing, and she claims it’s ligit, and that there are, of course, taxes for the trip that will have to be paid, and that they will send me a package in the mail to explain the trip in further detail.

The cruise ship is the Discovery and the hotel in the Belle Channel Inn on Grand Bahama Island. The trip can be vouchered out anytime in the next 18 months. She said her boss puts on this promotion because he lives there and wants to bring people into the area so they come back again, and that he is a nice Irish man. Is anyone familiar with this company, or has anyone actually gone on this trip? Any advice would be appreciated!!
